A major 666-home housing proposal for Kilbride in Arklow has been refused on appeal, with An Comisiún Pleanála upholding Wicklow County Council’s decision after finding that the scheme’s scale and location would conflict with Arklow’s Core Strategy and the town’s planned sequence of development.

The plans, lodged by Certain Assets of Dawnhill and Windhill Limited (a Lioncor subsidiary), sought permission for 666 homes, a local centre with retail, medical and community units, a crèche, new internal streets and a pedestrian-and-cycle boardwalk linking the site across Arklow Town Marsh and the Avoca River to the Riverwalk.
