A popular Cork city lunch spot has closed just weeks before Christmas and the property has gone up for rent. The Loving Salads café on Academy Street in now empty after it shut in recent weeks. The little restaurant and takeaway was very popular during the lunchtime rush, for salad bowls, soups and healthy sweet treats. The Loving Salads brand is also known for catering events, and a popular food stall at markets around Cork.
The city centre healthy-eating café is now up for rent and ready for new operators. The property is up for rent with Barry Auctioneers and Valuers who have advertised it as a “opportunity to lease this ready-made city centre cafe.”

It is in a very prominent spot on Academy Street, with plenty of foot traffic and in the centre of Cork city, just off St Patrick’s Street. It is hoped that a new long term tenant will be able to step into the turnkey business and bring some life back into the property.
Elsewhere, shoppers and city workers are loving salad bowls and healthy lunches at the new Sprout & Co café, which has been hugely busy since it opened last month – with queues out the door on its busiest days. The organic salad specialists, which have loads of vegan and veggie options, have transformed the former Ulster Bank branch on Winthrop Street into a stylish café and salad bar.
