Visitor restrictions are currently in place at Naas General Hospital in Co Kildare following an outbreak of flu.

The hospital say they are currently experiencing a high number of patients with flu, which is currently circulating in the community.

As a result visitor restrictions have been implemented to help reduce the spread of the virus within the hospital and to protect vulnerable patients.

Visiting is permitted for critical or compassionate purposes only and must be arranged in advance with the nurse in charge.

“These restrictions will be lifted as soon as possible when clinical circumstances allow,” said a hospital spokesperson.

“Naas General Hospital management would like to thank members of the public for their support in preventing the spread of infection in the hospital. Their help is vital to protect patients, staff, and the wider community.”

Where possible, the management at Naas General Hospital is also asking patients with non-emergency conditions to seek assistance from other parts of the health service such as their local pharmacist, GP, GP out-of-hours service, or a local injury unit.
