BREAKING |
Wexford General Hospital.
Emergency services are attending the scene of a road crash on the N25 Rosslare Road at Ballykelly Drinagh this evening.
A single road traffic collision, the incident saw a car collide with the wall of The Coal Bunker Bar shortly after 6 p.m. Thankfully, no other vehicles were involved.
Gardaí, the National Ambulance Service and the Fire Service responded and medical assistance was administered to the driver of the car, reportedly a woman aged in her 70s, at the roadside. She was then taken to Wexford General Hospital for further treatment.
While she is said to have been badly shaken by the incident, her injuries were understood to have been non-life-threatening.
Meanwhile, traffic was down to just one lane on the main road as gardaí attempted to clear the scene. Motorists were told to expect delays until the road is fully cleared.
There have been numerous calls for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) to take action on the stretch of the N25 near The Coal Bunker Bar in recent times. This is the latest incident since the tragic death of Miley Cousins outside of the pub in which he worked back in October.
A Kilkenny man was later charged in connection with the fatal crash.
