A man in his 20s has died and three teenagers were seriously injured following a two-car collision in Co Limerick in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The incident took place on the N21 at Ballymurragh West in Templeglantine at around 12.50am.

One of the drivers, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, where a postmortem examination is due to be carried out.

Three teenagers, two female juveniles and an adult male, were taken to University Hospital Limerick and University Hospital Kerry for treatment of serious injuries.

Another man in his 20s was taken to University Hospital Kerry with non-life-threatening injuries.

The road is currently closed pending a technical examination by gardaí, with local diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were traveling on the N21 between Abbeyfeale and Newcastle West between midnight and 1:00am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
