Coronation Street devotees recently saw two characters bid farewell to Weatherfield for a fresh start in Singapore in the latest episodes of the ITV soap.
Dee-Dee Bailey (played by Channique Sterling-Brown) and her daughter Laila Bailey (portrayed by Raiya Walton) made their final appearance in Friday’s episode (December 19), which is now available for viewing on ITVX.
In heart-wrenching scenes, Dee-Dee was shown saying her goodbyes to her family, including father Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges) and uncle Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan), before hopping into a taxi with her young daughter to embark on their new life in Singapore.
Their departure sparked a flurry of reactions on social media, with one viewer writing: “I appreciate that characters come and go frequently but this one has hit me quite hard.

Dee-Dee, a solicitor who has resided in Weatherfield since 2022, decided earlier this week that it was time to move on after landing a new job.
The character has been at the heart of some major storylines, from falling pregnant by the villainous solicitor Joel Deering (Calum Lill) to allowing her brother James Bailey (Jason Callender) to adopt her daughter Laila after struggling with motherhood.
However, Dee-Dee found it difficult to keep an emotional distance from her daughter and the two have now relocated for a fresh start on the other side of the globe.
