EastEnders stars have teased more Trueman drama following Patrick and Yolande’s wedding and Anthony’s big return last week.

It was confirmed back in July that Anthony Trueman would be returning to the BBC soap after 11 years away, making his return to East London a big part of the storyline involving his father Patrick.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy at the National Television Awards, Nicholas Bailey talked about what his character’s return means for the family.

“When you find out, let me know! It’s great, I’m having a fantastic time. The scripts and the storylines, as they emerge, it’s just great,” he said, adding that “it’s great to be back” on the show.

Yolande actor Angela Wynter added that it is “really lovely” to have the whole family back together.

Recalling filming the wedding scenes that aired last week, Patrick actor Rudolph Walker said: “Wasn’t it spectacular? Thoroughly enjoyed it.”

As Wynter described it as “a beautiful day”, Bailey said: ‘It was beautiful. The sun came out. And the music… we had a spectacular band. I’d just arrived back in the show, so I was like, ‘I’ll keep this!’.”

Patrick and Yolande got married (for the second time) in front of the whole community, although a dreamy day turned into their worst nightmare when a gunshot was heard in Walford.

There will also be “lots of drama” coming up for the Trueman family according to Bailey, who talked about his return to the show last month.

“From Anthony’s first episode back there’s lots of drama as he is reunited with Patrick back in Walford – and there’s lots of juicy stuff to come.

“Anthony has mixed emotions [about returning]. Although he’s spent time with his dad since the last time he was in Walford, he finds the whole make up of the family and its dynamics have changed. He feels isolated and like an outsider so he’s quickly trying to find himself.”

EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
