
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses after a woman in her 30s died in a fatal road crash involving a car and a lorry in Castleblayney, Co Monaghan this morning.

A man has been arrested and charged in relation to a fatal road collision in Co Monaghan yesterday.
The collision, involving a HGV and a car, occured on the N2 at Castleblayney.
The driver of the car, a woman in her 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her body was removed to the mortuary at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where a post-mortem examination will take place.
No other injuries have been reported.

The road remains closed at this time while efforts are ongoing to safely remove the obstructing vehicle. The man in his 50s arrested in connection with this collision has since been charged and is due to appear before a special sitting of Monaghan District Court at 7:00pm this evening. Investigations are ongoing.
