‘The Crown’ is not a documentary. The presence of actors is a strong clue; members of the Royal Family wish they were this good looking. Do viewers need to be warned about this? One British politician thinks so.
“It’s a beautifully produced work of fiction, so as with other TV productions, Netflix should be very clear it is just that,” the Conservative culture minister, Oliver Dowden, said this week. “I fear a generation of viewers who did not live through these events may mistake fiction for fact.”
