My Mister, the dark South Korean drama, has found a new UK streaming home on Prime Video. The award-winning series has proven to be a major hit with fans, who have dubbed it a “masterpiece”.
Directed by Kim Won-suk (When Life Gives You Tangerines) and written by Park Hae-young, the 16-part series first aired in South Korea in 2018.
“The world’s most ordinary business man becomes a friend with a young lonely and mysterious girl,” reads the logline.
K-pop singer Lee Ji-eun (IU) stars as Lee Ji-an, a young woman struggling with debt while supporting her grandmother. When she meets Park Dong-hoon, an older structural engineer weighed down by responsibility and betrayal, the pair form an unlikely bond.
Park Dong-hoon is played by the late Lee Sun-kyun, who went on to star in the Academy Award-winning Parasite in 2019.

“I have no words,” a fan said. “The best Korean drama of all time. Period. This brings me to tears every time I watch an episode, yes it is emotional but not only that, it’s the writing, the acting, it feels like you are in the big screen.”
“I now understand why this drama is so well rated. I just finished it and I’m literally speechless. I don’t even know what to say,” penned a happy viewer.
Another enthusiastic fan wrote: “If you rate a show based on your enjoyment after it ended and the lingering questions and thoughts it continues to provoke in you, this will have a perfect 10/10. In that respect, this is the best character-driven kdrama I have seen so far.”
The series has also won several awards, including Best Drama at the Baeksang Arts Awards and the Grand Prize at the Seoul Awards.
While My Mister is new to Prime, the series is also available on Netflix.
