This week’s Caring for Kerry message has issued advice for people living with long-term health conditions.
People living with long-term or chronic health conditions are more vulnerable to illness in winter.
Examples of long-term health conditions include Diabetes, Asthma, COPD and Cardiovascular Disease.
Those with long-term health conditions are advised to get their annual flu vaccinations, and to stay up to date with other vaccination, as well as taking all prescribed medications, including inhalers.
They are advised to wash their hands often, to avoid triggers such as dust or tobacco smoke, and to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
People with chronic illness are also advised to contact their GP or healthcare team when they notice worsening symptoms to get treatment to prevent them from becoming more serious.
