Two Buncrana revellers are being saught after notable damage was caused to the town’s Christmas tree last night.

According to the organisers behind the town’s Christmas display, €300 of damage was caused to the tree after they both jumped inside of it.

“We go again. Don’t forget this tree cost everyone that donated throughout the years €19,000 and we will soon be left with nothing,” the Buncrana Christmas Lights page posted on social media.

“Here we have two lads (who) thought it be funny to jump inside and climb the tree (the most important part of the tree as all the lights are carefully strung together to every branch). “They have nipped 4 branches and each branch costs about €75 post and packaged.”

The group say that they have “had enough” of fundraising to repair damage caused to the tree, and are asking the two young men to come forward and pay for the repairs to the damaged branches.

“We have had enough of fundraising to repair damage done by people so a bill will cost the town and committee €300 to repair the branches… the lads have (until tomorrow) to pay the €300 plus a good donation, or else we will be going to the Gardaí.”
