Wilfried Nancy’s start at Celtic has attracted a lot of attention from America.

Not only did Nancy start his managerial career in Major League Soccer (MLS), but he was also named Coach of the Year in 2024.

It resulted in Nancy getting a lot of plaudits, and many Stateside thought he deserved his chance to manage a club like Celtic, but then his first four matches with the champions of Scotland were a horror show.

But after Celtic’s win over 10-man Aberdeen on Sunday, it caught the attention of many pundits and former players in America, including Herculez Gomez, who wasn’t happy with what he was seeing from the players on the pitch amid the noise around Nancy.

It doesn’t appear that the Celtic players don’t want to play for Wilfried Nancy. This is a nice wee moment.

A common theme has emerged from Celtic’s five games under Nancy, as the defence and attack are at the heart of it all.

First of all, given how attacking Celtic are with their three at the back formation, the opposition find it quite easy to open up the Hoops.

That was proven by the goal Celtic conceded against ten-man Aberdeen, before Kieran Tierney and James Forrest came to the rescue.

But the other issue, which has left former UMSNT international Gomez annoyed, is the lack of quality and ruthless nature in the forward areas for Celtic.

Speaking on his social media account, Gomez mentioned how there was ‘a lot of discourse’ on Celtic possibly sacking Nancy, and he understood that pretty harsh position.

But he was left shocked by the players’ lack of cutting edge in front of goal, and he asked a simple question, ‘At what point is it on the players?’

Wilfred Nancy gets his first win in charge of Celtic. I’ve seen a lot of discourse on the possible sacking of Nancy, and it’s the name of the game for managers, but good Lord. How bad is Celtic in front of goal?

At what point is it on the players? #CelticFC ☘️
