A sleeping mother was dragged from her bed and beaten by a home intruder who she recognised as a man who used to babysit for her when the mask slipped from his face, it is alleged.
According to gardaí, Clive Sweeney (41) broke into the terrified woman’s house, struck her with a crowbar, threatened to kill her and “destroy her face” and only left when “panicked” by a noise outside.
