Before heading to the movie theater to see Timothée Chalamet’s buzzy new film Marty Supreme this week (releasing on Christmas Day), you should absolutely binge Odessa A’zion’s breakout HBO Max series that’s quickly becoming a must-watch hit this holiday weekend.

Currently trending #2 worldwide on HBO Max’s global streaming chart (via FlixPatrol), this series has been one of the best shows to binge on HBO Max since its series premiere in early November. Many consider it to be the career breakout role of Odessa A’zion, who plays Rachel Mizler in the 95% Rotten Tomatoes Certfied Fresh Marty Supreme.

HBO Max’s top trending new series, I Love LA, is the perfect way for viewers to be introduced to breakout Marty Supreme star Odessa A’zion. Created by Rachel Sennott, I Love LA is a slice-of-life series set firmly in the modern landscape of the entertainment industry. The series partly glorifies but mostly satirizes what it means to chase fame in Los Angeles in this day and age.

I Love LA is one of the most-watched HBO Max series of December 2025, right up there with the viral sensation Heated Rivalry. I Love LA is also Certfied Fresh, with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 85%, and has already been renewed for a second season, expected in 2026.

While Marty Supreme and I Love LA may be different in style and tone, they actually tell somewhat similar stories about young people pursuing fame and establishing a legacy. Chalamet’s character may be more concerned about glory than popularity, while Sennot and A’zion’s characters are more focused on not only following the latest trends, but setting them as well.

Born in 2000, Odessa A’zion is an LA-based actress who has been professionally acting since 2016. She’s appeared in episodes of Better Things, Nashville, and Love, and rose to prominence through her recurring roles in Grand Army, Ghosts, and Until Dawn. That said, A’zion really broke through into the mainstream with her notable performance in I Love LA.

It seems to be no confidence that I Love LA just released its season 1 finale, its top-rated episode on IMDb, on Sunday, December 21, just days before the December 25 release of Marty Supreme. While Chalamet, co-star Gwyneth Paltrow, and director John Safdie certainly carry their own box office appeal, adding A’zion to the equation – along with supporting roles from Kevin “Mr. Wonderful” O’Leary and rap superstar Tyler, the Creator – is certainly a nice boost for Marty Supreme’s opening weekend.
