Roz Purcell is spending Christmas in Mexico this year – as the star admits she hasn’t spent the festive season at home in Ireland for years.

The 2FM presenter loves to travel and explore new countries, spurred by her love of nature and hiking.

And while most people love nothing more than spending Christmas curled up on the sofa at home with their family, Roz uses it as an opportunity to travel and try new experiences.

This is nothing new for the social media personality and her husband-to-be, Zach Desmond.

She previously explained that she has travelled for Christmas each year since she was 24 because it is only the time she can really get away without any calls or emails, knowing that everyone else is off too.

This year, Roz and Zach are off to Mexico and Central America.

“I go away every Christmas. I have not spent a Christmas in Ireland in a long time,” she told RSVP Live.

“I’m actually going to Mexico and then I’m going to do some hiking in Central America.

“When I’m in Mexico, we’re going to go see Bad Bunny before his Super Bowl performance. We’re massive fans, so we’re excited.”

Roz and Zach will get married next year, and are opting for a low-key wedding rather than an extravagant celebration.

She explained: “Zach and I are having a very small wedding, it will probably just be a dinner.

“Both of our lives are chaotic, we probably won’t be going for a big band or party afterwards.

“I never really thought about a wedding growing up or what I want, so I’m still trying to figure that out. Each week it kind of changes when I speak to someone new about the wedding or getting married.

“But one thing Zach and I agreed on was that we both wanted a really small wedding.

“We wanted it in Ireland so people wouldn’t feel like they had to fly to another country, or take up too much of their holiday time, to spend the day with us and celebrate.

“We’re anti-gifts and all that, because we just don’t need anything and we’d rather people just be able to celebrate with us and not be put under pressure.”
