Princess Charlene of Monaco became the undisputed protagonist of the day this Saturday, September 13, with words that moved the entire Principality. Her presence at an official event coincided with a highly symbolic date, and it was then that she decided to step forward to deliver a message as moving as it was necessary.

The gesture did not go unnoticed. The princess’s statements, accompanied by a clear call to action, managed to capture public attention and reaffirmed her role as a solidarity reference. But what exactly did she say to move the Monegasques on such a special day?

Princess Charlene surprises Monaco with an important message

This Saturday, World First Aid Day was celebrated. This date has been promoted by the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent since 2000. Monaco, under Charlene’s leadership, has turned this commemoration into a true national priority, and this year was no exception.

The princess delivered a speech filled with humanity and conviction. “I strive to raise public awareness and educate young people so that they become responsible actors in collective safety,” she stated.

The message included a direct request: mobilize all of society around first aid training, so that anyone can act effectively in an emergency. Her proposal goes beyond awareness: she seeks for this training to be recognized as an essential right and accessible to everyone.

In 2024 alone, the Monaco Red Cross trained 5,000 people, and today 100% of the Principality’s students have already received this instruction. Charlene’s involvement has made Monaco a European reference in this field. “Learning first aid is an essential skill that can make a difference in an emergency situation,” she insisted.

She also referred to the need to “inspire everyone from an early age to learn and actively participate in the building of a safer and more united society.” These words were received as a message of hope.

That same commitment is also reflected in her public actions. In March, during International Women’s Rights Day, the princess participated in an awareness workshop held at Espace Léo Ferré. This time, she emphasized the importance of women, as the main educators within the family, being trained in these vital skills.

A struggle marked by Princess Charlene’s personal tragedy

The driving force behind Princess Charlene in this crusade is linked to very painful experiences from her past. The first, the one that marked her the most, was the loss of her cousin Richard, who drowned at just five years old. “This kind of pain never completely goes away,” she recently confessed.

But it was not the only tragedy. Years later, the daughter of some friends very close to the princess also died in similar circumstances, after drowning in a pool. This second blow reignited in Charlene the urgency to act, turning her cause into more than just an institutional duty: a personal mission.

That’s why every time she speaks at an event like Saturday’s, her speech resonates with a unique emotional charge. She speaks from experience and from the certainty that first aid training can save lives. The princess knows this firsthand, because on two occasions the lack of knowledge and proper reaction cost a child their life.

Princess Charlene has managed to transform tragedy into a cause that unites all of Monaco. Her call for mobilization on World First Aid Day reinforces the importance of education in safety and prevention. With every gesture and word, the Monegasque consort shows that personal commitment can become a collective hope for a safer future.
