There is not much rhyme or reason to how I read, but I went through 60 books this year – a personal record and a satisfyingly round number. I can go through a book in a day, or four in a week, or three in a month, and then struggle to get through the first chapter of another.
I have let scrolling on my phone get in the way, or staring blankly out the windows of public transport. There have been points where I have had two books on the go at once, and another where my housemate told me it was time to cut down my list when there was a sprawling 12 that I considered myself to be ‘currently reading’.
