MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – EmiSunshine is a local artist who has been making music since she was nine years old, and now she’s getting national recognition.
“They said my name and said I was the winner and they had me go on stage and accept my award. And it was just all very surreal,” EmiSunshine said.
She won the 2025 Josie Music Award for Female Country Artist of The Year.
EmiSunshine said the nature of East Tennessee is one of the main things that inspires her as she writes new music.
“I think it’s mostly getting to be around the nature that we all get to be in every single day that we kind of take for granted. And that whenever I’m in the middle of that, it just kind of sparks this inspiration that you guys get to see whenever I play,” EmiSunshine said.

Her Knoxville fans are still supporting her every step of the way, and the up-and-coming artist said that means a lot to her.
“Knowing that they’re out there and that they still want to listen to my music and that I’m still growing that every day, you know, that means a lot to me. It means that what I’m doing actually is worth it,” she said.
Her new album, Miss Demeanor, was released earlier this year.
