An urgent recall has been issued by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) for a popular brand of power bank due to overheating issues.
The portable batteries are widely used in Ireland to charge a variety of devices, including phones and laptops, and can be purchased in most electronic stores.
The brand of power bank that has been recalled is made by Belkin. The model is BPB002, and the UPC codes are 745883797622, 745883806751, 745883797639, and 745883806768. The model number and serial number are both located on the back or underside of the product listed on the product label.
The portable power bank’s lithium cell component may overheat, which could pose a fire hazard to consumers, so you should stop using it immediately.
There are approximately 827 affected products in the Republic of Ireland. The product was sold in the following places:
