Emergency services are attempting to control a major blaze that has broken out on the hills above Caherdaniel.
A number of fire brigade members are at the scene with the aim of ensuring the blaze does not enter the village.
The fire is understood to have started near the townland of Bracaragh, on high ground to the east of the village. It has since begun to move west with the wind.
Caherdaniel photographer Ruth Brophy is bearing witness to the blaze.
Ms Brophy told The Kerryman that there are at least three fire brigade vehicles on hand.

“There is loads of volunteers out, it looks like they will be at it for a while,” Ms Brophy said.
“The village is full of smoke,” she added.

Vincent Hyland, another local, has captured video footage of the fire.
“The worrying part of this is the fire brigade have to get this under control because it could jump into gardens and set houses on fire,” Mr Hyland said.
