Taylor Swift is pretty particular about her wedding guest dresses. Back in June, Glamour noted that the 36-year-old pop star wore botanical midi-dresses to the past four weddings she attended, typically opting for a corseted bodice with a flared skirt. On December 31, however, she broke pattern with a New Year’s Eve-coded look for Este Haim and Jonathan Levin’s California wedding.
In a series of photos shared by DeuxMoi, Swift can be seen speaking with rockstar Stevie Nicks while dressed in a shimmering golden dress that only abides by some of her usual requirements. As far as we can tell by the pixelated photos, she traded florals and leafy motifs for a golden midi-dress covered in sequins or some other shiny material.
According to Taylor Swift style expert Sarah Chapelle, Swift opted for Rabanne’s sequined crepe de chine maxi dress, which is currently available for $3,650 on Net-A-Porter. She topped off the dress, which features thick straps and a scooped neckline, with a beige shawl. You can see the images here.

The Haim sisters are regularly pictured at Swift’s Fourth of July parties and Travis Kelce’s football games, as their friendship with Swift can be traced all the way back to 2014. The band also collaborated with Swift on her iconic Evermore song, “No Body, No Crime,” in 2020 before opening for part of the Eras Tour in 2023. Swift even name-checked Este in that moody track, which made their recent Tuesday dinner a pretty big deal among Swifties.
Perhaps that’s when Swift discussed her most recent wedding guest look with last night’s bride. While some commenters debated whether or not sequins are appropriate to wear to a wedding, gold is often considered a lucky shade to kick off the new year, as it symbolizes prosperity and success. Not to mention, Swift’s own lyrics on the subject.
“I once believed love would be black and white. But its golden,” she sings in the bridge of the Lover track, “Daylight.” Honestly, Taylor Swift’s latest wedding guest dress seems more than fitting for the occasion.
