A new season and a new chapter for Clare football under Paul Madden commenced in triumphant fashion in the McGrath Cup after holding off hosts Waterford in Cappoquin Logistics Fraher Field in Dungarvan.
Madden, who steered his native Éire Óg to three county senior crowns this decade, seamlessly blended youth and experience, with senior debutants Joe Rafferty and Caoilfhionn O’Dea grabbing first-half goals to ensure a 2-4 to 0-8 interval advantage before dominating the second period.
