Elton John and his husband, David Furnish, celebrated New Year’s Eve with their two kids, Zachary and Elijah.
Furnish, 63, shared a photo via Instagram on Friday, January 2, of himself, Elijah, 12, John, 78, and Zachary, 15, posing with Donatella Versace at a party in London.
“Ringing in the New Year Donatella style. Thank you @donatella_versace for the spectacular dinner at @claridgeshotel. We love you. La Famiglia Forever!” he wrote. “All the F-J’s want to wish everyone a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!”
In the accompanying picture, Zachary and Elijah both wore black suits, with Elijah opting for a tie with his ensemble. Meanwhile, John sparkled in a black and white polka dot button-down shirt with an embellished black jacket and trousers, and Furnish stood out in a light suit jacket paired with a white button-down shirt and black pants.
In the comments section of Furnish’s post, fans marveled over how much his and John’s sons have grown.
“What a gorgeous family!! Your boys are all grown!! So handsome! Wishing you all a very happy and healthy new year!!” one Instagram user replied, while another added, “David, how beautiful your family [is]. Boys [are] so big and handsome. Happy New Year to you all.”
John and Furnish have been together since 1993 and married since December 2014. The couple welcomed Zachary and Elijah via surrogacy in December 2010 and January 2013, respectively.
Despite their family’s fame, John and Furnish have been able to maintain privacy for Zachary and Elijah over the years, with their sons making rare public appearances with their parents. Still, the music superstar has been vocal about his love for his sons on many occasions.
“Zachary and Elijah, you two are the greatest gifts I have ever been given,” John wrote in a March 2022 letter published by TIME. “You have filled my heart with love and my life with purpose and meaning in ways I didn’t think were possible. You are my proudest achievements, and I love you both so, so much. … Whoever you grow up to be, just be you—fully and completely you.”
More recently, John explained his decision to retire from touring to spend more time with his family.
“For me personally, I’ve had an amazing life, great career,” he told Andy Cohen in November 2024. “Incredible achievements, music, blah, blah, blah, but I would say that our sons, and David, are the most important things to me.”
He added, “[That’s] why I came off the road, to be able to spend the latter part of my life being there for them.”
John has also been forthcoming about his sons’ fears about his mortality, noting in his 2024 documentary, Elton John: Never Too Late, that Zachary and Elijah “love their daddy, so they want me to be around forever, [and] I would love to be around forever.”
“I want to see them have children and get married. I don’t think I’m going to be around for that,” he acknowledged. “So that’s why I want to use the best of my time while I’m around. Time together is so wonderful and so precious.”
