Scotstown take on St Brigid’s in the AIB All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship semi-final at Kingspan Breffni in Cavan.
The Monaghan and Ulster champions secured their spot in the semi-final after their provincial final win over Kilcoo at the BOX-IT Athletic Grounds.
St Brigid’s presents a tough challenge for the ‘An Bhoth’ side, with the Roscommon champions having made three finals in the last 15 years, winning their first All-Ireland title in 2013.
They last made the showpiece in 2024, when they lost to Glen in the final at Croke Park, but will be hoping to take advantage of the current crop’s inexperience at the national club level and dismantle the Ulster giants’ season.
Scotstown, though, have plenty of top-tier talent to flex, from Rory Beggan in goal right through to Jack McCarron in the full-forward line, with Monaghan players in every unit.
The Farney club haven’t been in an All-Ireland final since 1979, when they were defeated by Nemo Rangers, who won their second title and went on to win five more since then.
Scotstown have won their first Ulster title in 36 years at the fourth attempt, having lost three finals in the last 10 years, but they finally conquered their demons and climbed to the summit of Ulster football, just to be met with a bigger climb ahead of them towards an All-Ireland crown.
