Question: I am in my early 50s and I have been alcohol-free for about 10 years. My children are now in their early teens and I have more time and energy on my hands. My husband is a very social guy – he loves going out to the pub with his friends and going for dinner but I hate it.

It feels good to actually put it on paper. I find going out so tiring and boring and I really can’t be bothered with it at all. I have some very strong friendships and I stay connected with them by phone calls or meeting for lunch and brunch so I don’t feel I am missing anything.
