Met Éireann has issued two Status Yellow weather warnings, one for low temperatures and ice, and another for snow and ice for counties Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.
The warnings came into effect at 11am on Monday, January 5, and will remain in place until 9am on Tuesday, January 6.
Despite the challenging conditions, no flights have been cancelled at Knock Airport today, with most services operating largely as normal and only a small number of delays reported.
Arrivals into Ireland West Airport Knock have been mostly unaffected.
The most significant disruption has been to the Ryanair Liverpool to Knock service. Flight FR6552 had a scheduled take-off time of 12.25pm. It has currently been delayed to 4.35pm and is due to land at Knock at 5.45pm.
This delay has had a knock-on effect on the return service to Liverpool. Flight FR6551 was scheduled to take off at 1.55pm, but now has an estimated departure time of 6.05pm and is due to land back into Liverpool at 7.10pm.
The journey between Knock and the East Midlands faced minimal disruption this morning, with flight FR1742 landing at Knock only 7 minutes behind schedule at 7.32am. The 9.05am return service departed at 9.33am.
The FR890 service into Knock from Edinburgh landed early at 7.54am, 11 minutes ahead of schedule. The outbound 8.30am return flight departed Knock just 18 minutes behind schedule at 8.48am and landed in Scotland at 9.53am.
This morning’s Ryanair flight from London Luton landed just four minutes behind schedule at 11.24am, while the Aer Lingus service from London Heathrow also arrived four minutes late at 12.29pm.
The return flight to London Luton, scheduled for 11.45am, departed shortly after midday. Meanwhile the 1pm Aer Lingus return to London Heathrow took off at 1.19pm and arrived 10 minutes behind scheduled.
The FR805 morning flight from London Stansted into Knock was delayed by 90 minutes. The return trip back to Stansted experienced a a lengthy 2-hour delay, as flight FR804 departed at 11.19am and arrived at 12.39pm.
Not all services experienced disruption. Inbound flight FR3691 from Birmingham arrived into Knock 17 minutes early at 8.58am and the return flight departed eight minutes ahead of schedule at 9.32am and landed at 10.40am.
This afternoon, the 2.45pm FR892 Ryanair service from Manchester into Knock was delayed until 3.09pm. Its corresponding outbound service was delayed by just eight minutes and took off at 4.28pm.
The second set of flights coming into Knock from London Luton, FR8144, and London Stansted, FR807, this afternoon, both departed slightly ahead of schedule. The evening return flights back to both airports are currently due to take-off from Knock on time.
The airport has reminded passengers to take extra care when travelling to and from Knock as conditions remain challenging.
