Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances in relation to the discovery of a body in County Galway on Friday.
The body of the woman, aged in her 40s, has been found in the Woodford area on the night of Friday January 2.
The body has been removed from the scene to Portiuncula University Hospital where a post mortem will take place in due course.
Gardaí explained the results of the post mortem will determine the course of the investigation.
The Irish Independent understands foul play is not a factor at this time.
