A teenager in Kerry has been airlifted to hospital for treatment following a serious farm accident near Sneem.

It is understood that the teenager was injured in an incident with a tractor on land off the main Sneem to Molls Gap road.

GardaĆ­ and emergency services attended the accident around 12pm today. The Air Ambulance was tasked and the youth was brought by air ambulance to Cork University Hospital for treatment.

In a statement GardaĆ­ said they attended a workplace incident on a property in Sneem, today, Monday, January 5.

The incident occurred at approximately 12.15pm.

The Health and Safety Authority has been notified.
