A man has been arrested and a second man hospitalised after an alleged assault in Carlow town today.
Emergency services including gardaí and ambulance services were called to the scene of the incident which occurred in the Staplestown Road area at approximately 12pm this afternoon, Wednesday, January 7.
It is understood that two men were involved in the incident, at least some of which took place in a public area.
In a statement to the Irish Independent, a garda spokesperson said their investigations are ongoing into an alleged assault.
“Gardaí responded to the scene of an alleged assault incident on the Stapelstown Road Carlow today, Wednesday, January 7, that occurred at approximately 12pm,” they said.
“A male aged in his 50s was brought to St Lukes Hospital, Kilkenny to be treated for injuries believed to be non-life threatening.
“A male aged in his 40s was arrested in connection with the investigation.
“The scene is currently being held for technical examination. Investigations are ongoing.”
