2025 was the second warmest year on record in Ireland, according to Met
Éireann’s Annual Climate Statement for 2025.

It says the past four years have been the warmest since records began in
1900.

The average air temperature last year was just over 11 degrees Celsius,
which is 1-and-a-half degrees warmer than the long-term average recorded
in the 30 years from the 1960s to the 1980s.

Locally, Newport was one of the wettest areas in the country, with 258
“rain days”, while many of the highest winds and gusts were recorded
across the West and West Coast.
