After Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Lilo & Stitch, and Moana, Tangled is Disney’s next buzzy live-action adaptation. Centered around the 2010 animation, the upcoming movie has become so highly-anticipated, people began to cook up their dream fan casts as they eagerly waited.

When will the live-action Tangled movie come out?

The movie is still is in pre-production, so there isn’t a release date quite yet. Disney began putting the crew together for the movie in 2024, per Deadline. And to start 2026, the studio announced the first set of cast members.

Who is directing, writing, and producing the live-action Tangled movie?

In 2024, Deadline reported that the Tangled live-action movie will be directed by Michael Gracey, whose past work includes the musical The Greatest Showman. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who also did Thor: Love and Thunder, wrote a screenplay for the movie. Freakier Friday producer Kristin Burr is also on board for the project.

Who will star in the live-action Tangled movie?

On January 7, 2026, Disney revealed some of the Tangled live-action cast—the highly-anticipated leading roles. Teagan Croft, who previously played Raven in Titans, will be taking on the main role of Rapunzel. She’s taking the baton from Mandy Moore who voiced the long-haired character in the animation.

From School Spirits and Disney Channel’s Zombies movie series, Milo Manheim will be portraying Rapunzel’s romantic interest, Flynn Rider. “Too grateful to put into words. I will do him justice, I promise,” Manheim wrote on his Instagram following the announcement. In the 2010 cartoon, the suave character was voiced by Zachary Levi.
