The Wrecking Crew, the upcoming action-comedy starring Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa, has released its exciting first trailer, with the film just three weeks away from its release.

The film sees the pair portray James and Jonny, two half-brothers who reunite after the “mysterious” death of their father. While Bautista’s James is a disciplined Navy SEAL, Momoa’s Jonny is a free-spirited police officer.

“As they set out to uncover the truth, buried secrets resurface and loyalties are tested, unveiling a conspiracy that can tear their family apart,” teases the logline. “Together, they are ready to wreck anything that gets in their way.”

Ahead of its release on Prime Video later this month (28 January), the streamer has now released an action-packed trailer, with the pair’s bickering also being a feature amid all the carnage in Hawaii.

In addition to Bautista and Momoa, the cast for The Wrecking Crew includes Claes Bang, Temuera Morrison, Jacob Batalon, Frankie Adams, Miyavi, Stephen Root and Morena Baccarin.

Ángel Manuel Soto, best known for Blue Beetle and Charm City Kings, is serving as the director for the action-comedy, with Jonathan Tropper (Banshee, Your Friends and Neighbours) writing the screenplay.

Ahead of its release, Momoa, Trooper and Soto spoke with Esquire about what genre fans can expect from the film, with the director teasing: “Investigating their father’s death, that’s the cathartic thing.

“Of course, the sibling rivalry and the issues they have are ripe for humour. But when I read a script, I try to see three avenues: You have the plot, emotion, and then maybe you have: ‘What’s this saying about the world? What commentary are we making?’”

“Jason brings this wild, crazy, unpredictable side,” he added. “Dave brings this disciplined, methodical, slow-burn intensity to him. And well, they’re both big. They have a lot of gravity. As men, they couldn’t be more different from each other.”

The Wrecking Crew will stream on Prime Video on 28 January.
