One of Marvel’s most troubled MCU TV shows got a positive update this week, hinting at a potential big step forward.

What MCU TV show has recently received a positive update?

According to a new report from Daniel Richtman, the once-canceled MCU series Strange Academy could be coming back. The planned Disney+ spin-off to the world of Doctor Strange has had a tumultous history, but Richtman notes that the series has “resumed development,” and that Marvel is looking for a new lead writer, hinting that previously attached writer Amy Rardin may be gone from the project and Marvel is serious about bringing it back.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that Strange Academy has been back on. Last year, reports surfaced that the project was back on after being paused several times. A report from Jeff Sneider late last year also seconded this. In his report, Sneider noted that both Strange Academy and the long-in-development Nova projects were still both in the works, with Marvel Studios unsure of whether to turn them into TV shows or movies.

Last year, Sneider also reported that Marvel Studios would be seeing how a Doctor Strange 3 movie performed before making a decision on Strange Academy.

Marvel Studios‘ current approach is to develop more projects than will actually be made. The general idea is to hire individuals to develop potential series to the point where they have a pilot script, at which point the company can then decide whether or not they want to move forward with the project.
