One of the leading organisers of a mass protest, which is expected to see thousands of farmers block the roads around Ireland’s most central town on Saturday, says a new deal between the European Union and a bloc of South American countries could see ‘stinking rotten meat’ mass-imported into Ireland.
Independent Ireland leader Michael Collins says that Ireland’s food producers are at the end of their tether regarding the agreement, which will see hundreds of thousands of tonnes of beef and poultry exported to Ireland from countries like Argentina and Brazil, profiting from a reduced tariff due to be included in the deal.
