Amazon Pharmacy (AMZN, Financials) stated that it is now selling Novo Nordisk’s (NVO, Financials) Wegovy weight loss medication via both insurance programs and a cash pay option. The new choice adds to Amazon’s digital health services as the need for obesity treatments keeps growing.

People with commercial insurance may only have to pay $25 a month, while people without insurance may get the medicine for as low as $149 a month. The business added that in the next several weeks, Amazon Pharmacy kiosks would also provide the pill form of Wegovy.

In December, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized Novo Nordisk’s 25-milligram Wegovy tablet. Semaglutide is the active ingredient in the oral version of Wegovy and Ozempic, just as it is in the injectable forms.

Amazon’s recent step boosts its position in the quickly rising online prescription business and fits with the larger trend of using technology to provide healthcare.
