Temperatures are sub-zero – making for potentially lethal driving conditions
Travelling conditions are treacherous on roads across the country, with lethal black ice causing chaos for some.
The west of Ireland is particularly affected, with videos already showing motorists falling victim to the near-invisible threat that is black ice.
On the Glenisland road in Mayo, a video has shown the dangers of black ice with several cars careering off the road and into a ditch.
Galway Beo reports that three vehicles, including a white van and a 4×4 jeep, fell victim and collided with the ditch after losing control at the bend in the road.
