Applications for up to 20 new affordable homes in North Cork will be accepted by Cork County Council next month.

The new houses at Pulleen in Kanturk, constructed by Vella Homes, will be available for first-time buyers who do not already own a home, and Fresh Start applicants.

The development, consisting of 20 new A-rated dwellings, comprises a mix of two two-bedroom mid-terrace houses, two two-bedroom bungalows and 16 three-bedroom end-of-terrace/semi-detached houses.

The mid-terrace homes will be available for purchase from €260,000, representing a reduction of 22.3% from market value; the bungalows from €315,000, marking a reduction of 19.2% from market value; and the end-of-terrace/semi-detached homes from €295,000, at a reduction of 20.2% from market value.

The Mayor of the County of Cork, councillor Mary Linehan Foley said Cork County Council is “committed to delivering high quality, affordable homes for the people of Cork”.

“This new opportunity in Pulleen, Kanturk, demonstrates our ongoing dedication to sustainable communities and ensuring that families can build their lives in the areas they love,”

Ms Linehan Foley said.

Through the scheme, purchasers will enter an affordable dwelling purchase arrangement with the local authority, which will retain a percentage equity share in the dwelling, equal to the difference between the market value of the home and the price paid by the purchaser.

Applications for the scheme will be accepted between 12pm on February 3 and 12pm on February 23 via the online application portal.
