Republic of Ireland’s Evan Ferguson was forced off with injury just 39 minutes into Roma’s Serie A game with Sassuolo.
Ferguson appeared to pick up a back injury and was replaced by Stephan El Shaarawy with the score at 0-0 with the side eventually winning 2-0.
It’s another concern for Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrimsson with Adam Idah recently ruled out for a “significant” spell after picking up an injury in Swansea training just before Christmas.

Josh Cullen is also another long-term injury victim with the midfielder suffering a knee injury while on Premier League duty with Burnley against Everton last month.
The Republic of Ireland will play Czech Republic in the World Cup play-off semi-final in March.
