Better was clearly expected from Tonyfromhr on his debut, while Gennadius holds solid claims if running to his best. However, he remains a maiden after 12 starts and a chance is taken on HENGIST POD on his debut. The selection has a nice pedigree and is preferred ahead of Variety Act who ran a promising race here on his debut in November.

Pitney (second choice) finished ahead of My Awele and Union Island at Lingfield 12 days ago, and he’s taken to confirm those placings. However, BLUE ECLIPSE won a maiden here over 7f for Alice Haynes last January and ran a solid race at Wolverhampton on his stable debut despite losing a shoe. The step back up to 1m could suit the selection, while the veteran Poetic Force is another who can go well.

My Boy Harry is interesting in a switch of headgear having won when visored for the first time at Kempton in October, but TOOTSIE is narrowly preferred. She’s still a maiden but hasn’t been with her current yard for long, and ran well here last time despite a wide trip. Kondratiev Wave and Straight Back Up are others to consider.

The frustrating Invincible Melody should make another bold bid, while a return to form from Siobhanbrogan could be forthcoming now she drops in grade with a visor added. That said, the hat-trick seeker LAZZAR (nap) will be a tough nut to crack as a 2lb rise for his latest Lingfield win looks well within his range.

The trip is a bit of an unknown but Must Believe (second choice) should go well, while Pleasant Man should be suited by dropping back in distance. However, CARLTON loves it here and is selected to take his record at the track to 7-8. Veraison is also in the mix.

Flicka’s Girl (second choice) was unfortunate not to finish closer here a week ago and she’s respected back down in trip, but BISHOP’S GLORY is unexposed over 5f and went close at Newcastle last time. Under Curfew ran well over 7f at Lingfield on Saturday and is next on the list.

Market support should be noted for Desert Heart on his first start since being gelded, but TIME TESTED is taken to continue his progress and maintain his unbeaten record over C&D. Melek Alreeh was beaten a neck by the selection here last time and can again go well, while Monty Beau (second choice) could have more to offer now stepped up in trip. Hinchinbrooke is also on the shortlist.
