A MAN living in Limerick has pleaded guilty to drink driving before Limerick District Court.

Heorhii Lyzun, 30, with an address at The Park, Crossagalla, Limerick pleaded guilty to driving on the Ballysimon Road with drink taken.

Prosecuting Sergeant Aisling O’Neill, giving facts for the state, said that Mr Lyzun’s car was observed swerving in a public place by a garda at 2am on December 10, 2025.

Mr Lyzun, driving the car, went on to mount the kerb at the Tipperary roundabout.

The garda turned on patrol lights and stopped the driver. Upon being stopped, the garda noticed that Mr Lyzun had a strong “smell of alcohol on his breath”.

Mr Lyzun was arrested and brought to Henry Street garda station. Tests revealed that he had 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of breath – significantly over the legal limit for driving.

The man, who chose to go without legal representation, told Judge Patricia Harney that he is single and works as an electrician.

He expressed remorse for his actions, and said “I take full responsibility” for the incident.

Judge Harney convicted and sentenced the man for drink driving. The judge issued him a fine of €500, and gave him four months to pay the penalty.

The man was also disqualified from driving for the next three years, which is due to take effect 14 days after his conviction.
