Born in 1946, Pat Egan grew up in Dublin’s north inner city’s Eccles Place. His father disappeared to England. “I never met him,” he says.

Egan, who left school at 13, did, however, meet and become friends with The Hollies, The Who, Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy, Rory Gallagher, Billy Connolly and Eric Clapton, putting on concerts in Ireland once upon a time. “Rory was a unique guy,” Egan says. “He lived to play and drank too much whiskey.”
