Ireland has signalled it will support any EU response to potential US ­tariffs, with the Taoiseach insisting that “the sovereignty of Greenland and ­Denmark cannot be violated”.

Micheál Martin said Europe must be ready to respond if US president Donald Trump proceeds with threats to implement a wave of increasing tariffs on member states, while warning against any “knee‑jerk” reaction.
