Police say that a teenage boy suffered a life-threatening head injury after a serious assault in Derry.
The incident took place in the early hours of this morning, with Police being alerted to an altercation between two males in the Butcher Street area via the assistance of city centre CCTV operators.
Police attended the scene and found a 17-year-old boy unconscious on the ground, with the other person involved having left the scene.
The boy remains in hospital, with Police saying he sustained a potentially life-threatening head injury.
Any witnesses have been asked to come forward.
