When Wayne Baron, head chef in a popular bistro in Dublin 6, started hearing voices in his head back in 2018 he initially thought it was his staff yapping away in the kitchen.

Little did he know that they were auditory hallucinations, the first symptoms that would, within 12 months, lead to a diagnosis at the age of 52 of young-onset Lewy body dementia (LBD) and a prognosis of five to eight years to live.
