Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street’s Ryan Connor is the victim of a shocking crime next week when armed robbers raid the hotel while he’s on duty. Attacked by two masked men as they clear the safe, Ryan fears for his life – will Carl Webster come to his rescue?
The frightening incident comes just a couple of weeks after Ryan tried to raise the alarm over Carl’s attempts to con his sister Debbie. Ryan’s suspicions worsened the tensions he was already facing with Carl at work, but could this drama bring them closer to a truce?
“The swanky Chariot Square hotel is the last place you’d expect to see hoodlums hanging about,” begins our Corrie insider. “Unfortunately for Ryan, he’s caught up in a terrifying robbery that quickly gets out of hand. It just goes to show crime can strike anywhere…”
Debbie’s loyal employee is minding his own business during a quiet shift, when suddenly a pair of shifty-looking types approach the reception desk.

Ordering Ryan to open the safe, the frightening fellas prove they mean business when they produce a claw hammer and threaten him into doing as they say – or else!
Rattled Ryan is frozen to the spot with fear. Fearful of the consequences, he realises he has no choice but to comply.
The bullying blokes set about stuffing all the cash from the safe into a bag. Ryan feels utterly powerless, as if the whole thing is a bad dream – but it’s about to develop into a full-on ordeal.
Once the robbers have got what they came for, they decide to make sure Ryan doesn’t try to play the hero and apprehend them. Turning on their quaking victim, they inflict a brutal attack. Begging for mercy, cowering Ryan prays his assailants will stop.

Wondering if he’ll be battered to death by a claw hammer, Ryan can’t believe it when an unlikely knight in shining armour appears…
“Carl is suddenly on the scene,” our spy continues. “These two aren’t exactly best buddies, but Ryan is actually pleased to see him for once. Carl can’t believe what he’s walked in on – can he save Ryan and stop his sister’s business getting burgled?”
Having accused Carl of defrauding Debbie, which Carl had the gall to deny, Ryan knows he’s not exactly his colleague’s favourite person at the minute. Cocky Carl isn’t a man to be crossed, so it remains to be seen whether he’ll help Ryan or stand back and let the lad suffer as a punishment.
Will Carl listen to his conscience, do the right thing and rescue vulnerable Ryan in his hour of need? Or is he unable to resist the chance to revel in seeing his enemy suffer after he almost exposed his betrayal?
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
