The Defence Forces bomb disposal team have been called to Trump Doonbeg Golf Links & Hotel in Co Clare after a suspicious package was found.
It is understood that the Army, fire brigade and gardaí were all alerted to the incident this afternoon after the discovery of a package with white powder.
A Garda spokesperson said: “We are currently dealing with an ongoing incident at a premises in west Clare. There will be no further comment at this time.”
The resort is part of US president Donald Trump’s hospitality business.
The president’s son Eric Trump made a private visit to the resort earlier this week before travelling to the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Staff at the hotel raised the alarm about late on Wednesday afternoon and gardaí called in the Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit to examine the package.
A spokesperson for the Defence Forces said there would be no comment on ongoing operations due to security reasons.
The hotel and the Trump organisation were contacted for comment.
Doonbeg will host the Irish Open golf tournament in September this year, with some of the biggest names in international golf expected to take part.
There has been speculation that Mr Trump may also attend but that is thought to be unlikely.
He has visited the resort on several occasions since he bought it in 2014, including during this first term as president in 2019 and again in 2023.
The resort has been at the centre of security concerns previously.
In March last year, a number of greens were dug up in an apparent protest act, and in late 2024, gardaí carried out a search of the complex after threats were made against it.
