A SMALL group personal training facility for women is being proposed for premises in central Greenock.
Sophi Binnie of Do It All Coaching has applied for permission to change the use of the glazier’s building at 55 Regent Street, beside Coral bookmakers.
Training sessions would be limited to one-to-one and two-to-one personal training or small groups with a maximum of five clients at any one time.
In a statement submitted to Inverclyde planning officers, she explained: “I am a young single mother, teacher and personal trainer who has grown my fitness coaching business significantly over the past year.
“This application represents the next step in establishing a sustainable, professional space where I can continue to support my clients.
“The studio is intended to be a safe, private, and supportive environment for women and young girls, particularly those who may feel anxious or uncomfortable in large commercial gyms.
“This is not a public facility, but a private training space aimed at encouraging confidence, wellbeing, and long-term health.
“Granting this change of use would allow me to continue developing my business
responsibly, while contributing positively to the local area through a low-impact,
community-focused use.
“There will be no open-access gym use, no large classes, and no drop-in sessions. Client attendance will be staggered by appointment only, ensuring low footfall and minimal impact on the surrounding area.”
Hours of operation would be Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm, and Saturday/Sunday: 10am to 2pm.
The application is pending consideration by council officials.
