A Donegal man has been found guilty at the Central Criminal Court of multiple counts of the rape and sexual assault of a young woman.

The man, who is in his 50s, cannot be named in order to protect the identity of the victim.

Following a lengthy trial in Dublin last month, he was found guilty of the offences which took place at various locations in the east of the county between the late 1990s and early 2000s. These included 14 counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault.

Mr Justice Kerida Naidoo adjourned sentencing until next month.

Meanwhile, the State entered a Nolle Prosequi in relation to similar charges against a co-accused man in the case.
