Service is good and some dishes are delicious but the €293 bill is hard to swallow at this new Japanese BBQ spot in Dublin

Yakiniku Matsukawa restaurant in Dublin 1
“My hair needs a wash, it smells of fried meat!” That’s the morning-after-the-night-before WhatsApp message from my dinner date at Yakiniku Matsukawa, a new Japanese barbecue restaurant in North Wall, close to the IFSC.
If you’ve eaten at the co-owned Matsukawa, a brilliant omakase sushi restaurant on Queen Street in Smithfield, you’ll understand why there was competition for the second seat at my table. The cohort of family and friends I call upon for reviewing missions are all folk who can be relied upon to order what I tell them, to remember the camera eats first (my amateur snaps appear on this page, for which apologies to the professionals), and to be happy to share everything.
